"Silent Space "challenged ideas about Indian classical dance, creating innovative contemporary work. This unforgettable spectacle featured evocative rhythms, precision, and striking geometry. It mixes western orchestral recordings, live singing, amplified flute, electronic drone, and the dancers' foot-stomping percussion.
"Dansa Rickshaw" is a direct expression of choreographer Priya Shrikumar's dual heritage. The show creates a cultural dialogue by weaving together the intricate footwork and expressive storytelling of Bharatanatyam with the powerful sounds of Scottish bagpipes and traditional reels.
The production also pays homage to the late Scottish musician Martyn Bennett, known for his pioneering fusion of traditional Scottish music with contemporary beats. This choice underscores the theme of blending ancient traditions with modern innovation.
