KATHA INDIAN DANCE OUTREACH PROJECT IN EAST AYRSHIRE

Dance Ihayami was awarded a grant from BBC Children in Need to deliver an Indian dance outreach project with 7 groups in 4 schools in East Ayrshire, using Indian dance as a tool to engage 60 young people with additional support needs in a creative dance project.

Dance Ihayami’s instructors Karen and Kirsten worked weekly with students of Park School and Willowbank School in Kilmarnock, and Hillside School and Barshare Primary School in Cumnock. Through the medium of Indian arts, the participants followed a drop of water and exploring creatively the exceptional journey from the skies to the sea, and the landscapes and stories experienced along the way.

Dance Ihayami worked in partnership with East Ayrshire Creative Mind Team Dance Officer. The project was funded by BBC Children in Need.
